Apple’s Photos (Built-in app) Apple’s Photos app is included for free on all recently released Macs. Apps must follow an approved business model and clearly show you the price, tell you what you get with your purchase, and explain subscription-renewal terms up front. Apple sends a receipt each time you use our in‑app purchase feature, and you can also view those purchases and subscriptions in your account. I checked iCloud and all the photos were there. Apparently the Photos app is optimising storage space this way. How I solved it: Go to Photos - Preferences - Check iCloud photo library - Select Download originals to Mac. When connected to power, Photos started to download photos from iCloud back to the Mac.
